Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed that the food kits for students from pre-primary to Class 8 who are included in the mid-day meal scheme will be distributed from next week onwards under the leadership of Department of General Education. He said this during the press meet after COVID review meeting.
Students from pre-primary to 8th standard included in the mid-day meal scheme are eligible for the food kits which contain rice and 9 types of groceries as part of food security allowance. A total of 26,26,763 students in government and aided schools will be benefited with the scheme. The total expense for the scheme is Rs 81,37,00,000, the chief minister said.
The food kits will be made available in schools through SupplyCo and they will be distributed to the parents with the help of mid-day meal committee, PTA, Mother PTA and school management committee must strictly adhere to COVID protocols including social distancing. Head teachers are in charge of the kit distribution in schools, the chief minister added.
