Students fall ill after excursion: Health officials inspect park in Thrissur, other spots

Thrissur: A section of students who visited water theme park in Athirappilly here fall ill, evoking health officials to examine the spot.

The affected are students from Aluva and Ernakulam regions who visited the park on February 17. Many had fever, vomiting and fatigue, and had to be hospitalised. Some were even diagnosed with leptospirosis-like symptoms.

The officials visited the park around 11:30 am following the direction of the District Medical Officer. They collected water samples from the park and further details can be determined only if the results are out.

Health officials are also visiting the various stoppages including eateries where the students visited.

According to experts, prompt and precautionary inspections of officials concerned can avert mishaps like this.
