Students fall ill after excursion: Health dept orders for temporary closure of TCR water theme park

Thrissur: Kerala Minister for Health Veena George ordered for temporary closure of the Siver Storm Water Theme Park in Athirappilly here as many students who visited the park fall ill.

The closure notice was issued following an inspection conducted by health officials. The department sent water samples collected from the park for detailed tests. However, the reports are not released yet.

The affected are students from Aluva and Ernakulam regions who visited the park on February 17. Many had fever, vomiting and fatigue, and had to be hospitalised.

Some were even diagnosed with leptospirosis-like symptoms. Reports also said some have leptospirosis.

Health officials are also inspecting the various stoppages including eateries where the students visited. According to experts, prompt and precautionary inspections of officials concerned can avert mishaps like this.
