Thiruvananthapuram: A sixth standard student of Govt UP School, Parakkal is undergoing treatment for one and a half months for spine injury when a teacher allegedly pushed him from the classroom. The teacher had shoved the boy for not completing the notebook.
The unfortunate incident happened on November 16, 2022. A teacher of Govt UP School in Parakkal, Amir Khan, reportedly pushed the boy in fury for not completing his notebook. The Moolayam native sixth standard student suffered a spinal injury in the fall as his backbone hit the edge of a bench.
The student was taken to hospital as the pain did not subside even the next day. The injury on the spine was diagnosed in the tests conducted at Govt Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. It was the doctor who advised to proceed with a formal complaint, said the student’s mother. Another complaint was lodged at the Childline also.
Though complaints were registered at Venjaramoodu police station and the General Education department here, no action were taken yet, alleged the student’s mother.
The mother accused Amir Khan, who is a leftist organisation leader, of being protected by the authorities. The school authorities are also reportedly urging the mother to change her statement. No one from the school has enquired even after the child has been absent from the school for over a month, she added.
Meanwhile, the school authorities have denied allegations that the teacher had pushed the student.
