Student's death due to snakebite: Teachers move HC seeking anticipatory bail
Kochi: Two teachers of Sarvajana Vocational HSS in Sulthan Bathery have sought anticipatory bail in connection with the death of Shahla Sherin, a Class 5 student due to snakebite from classroom. Headmaster KK Mohanan and teacher Shajil have approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail.
The police had filed case against three teachers and a doctor of Batheri Taluk hospital in the incident.
Primary enquiry suggests that there were lapses from the part of all four of them in ensuring Shahla received immediate medical attention following the snakebite. Subsequently the police filed a case under culpable homicide and section 75 of juvenile justice act. The latter is a non-bailable offence.
The incident happened on November 20.
