Student dies in bike accident while bringing wreath for a funeral
Ezhukon: A young man died in a bike accident while bringing a wreath for a funeral on Sunday morning. Another 13-year-old boy who was pillion riding with him also sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Thiruvananthapuram medial college.
The deceased has been identified as Yadukrishnan (17), a native of Vellimon and son of Sajeesh. Yadukrishnan who works as a helper in a flower shop is a second year polytechnic student at Sree Narayana college, Kottiyam.
The accident happened at Kareepra Nadamel junction on the Shivagiri-Pangod state highway. According to eyewitnesses, a bike that was travelling ahead of Yadukrishnan's turned to a pocket road. Seeing this, Yadukrishna applied sudden brake and lost control of the bike. Following that, his bike collided with the two wheeler in front and hit an electric post.
In the incident, Yadukrishnan’s head smashed an electric post. Though he was admitted to a private hospital in Meeyannur, the end came at 3pm.
The boy along with Yadukrishnan on the bike was Ajas, son of Siju. Siju is the owner of a flower shop in which Yadukrishnan works. Ajas sustained injuries to his left hand and face.
Adhish (28) and his wife Gopika (25) who were in the other bike sustained minor injuries and took treatment in a private hospital at Kundara.
The body of Yadukrishnan is kept in the mortuary. He is survived by his mother Ambili and brother Vidhukrishnan.
Ezhukon police registered a case.
