Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that strict action will be taken to prevent violation of rules in the prison. He was responding to the submission in the Assembly by K C Joseph over the security lapses in Kannur Central Jail.
Earlier, many prohibited items like mobile phones, ganja and other things were seized from Kannur and Viyyur jails in a surprise inspection under the leadership of Rishiraj Singh, Jail DGP.
Prisoners use mobiles phones in the prison. They are smuggled into prison by hiding it in their private parts of the body. In the wake of this, inspections at jails will be made strict. Scorpions under Thunderbolt will be appointed for the inspections at the entrance of prisons. Mobile phone jammers will be installed in prisons to prevent the use of mobile phones, said the CM.
