Thiruvananthapuram: The 24-hour strike in KSRTC announced by INTUC and BMS unions started from Monday midnight. The strike is organised to protest over the delay in implementing salary revision and opposing the conditions put forward by the new company Swift.

Mechanic staff union also is taking part in the strike. Though one faction of the employees are on strike, maximum bus services will be operated, the management informed. CITU and AITUC unions are not part of the strike.

KSRTC CMD Biju Prabhakar held reconciliation talks with the leaders of TDF and KST Employees Sangh on Monday. However, the matter of salary revision hindered the talks.

The leaders asked the MD to issue an order in a way so that the revised salary can be implemented from April 1. However, the MD said that this cannot be decided without discussing with the government.

R Sasidharan, R Ayyappan, K Gopakumar and K Ajayakumar represented TDF and G K Ajith, K L Rajesh, S Ajayakumar and T P Vijayan represented KST Employees Sangh in the discussion with the MD.
