Thamarassery: Kozhikode district collector informed that no vehicles shall be permitted to enter the Thamarassery ghat road on Thursday night from 11 pm. Private vehicles will not be allowed as trailer trucks carrying huge machinery to the plant of Nestle India Limited in Nanjangud is taking this route through the ghat road. The Collector requested the public to resort to alternative routes on December 22 night.

The trucks that arrived at Adivaram on September 10 has been parked here for over three months. The authorities stopped the trucks citing that the transit of these huge vehicles through the ghat road will cause heavy traffic blockage. The permission to pass via the ghat road was obtained recently.

The transit date was issued only after the Annamalai transport company produced documents, including an affidavit, demand draft worth Rs 20 lakh, and a certificate from the Ministry of Road Transport Authority.

Thamarassery DySP Shraf Thengilakkandy forwarded letters to Fire Force, Forest department, ghat protection committee, Puthuppady grama panchayat, and KSEB requesting necessary support while the over dimensional modular hydraulic trailers transit through the ghat road.
