Kozhikode: Forest Minister AK Saseendran said that wild animals would retaliate against those who try to provoke them. His remark came hours after an examination by the forest department officials revealed the presence of around 15 gun pellets inside the body of ‘Dhoni’ aka PT 7 (Palakkad Tusker 7).
Further, he added that strict action would be taken against forest officials who refuse to attend calls for help from the public.
"The important thing is not to provoke any wild animals, even if it is a tiger or an elephant. If someone provokes animals, they will retaliate with vengeance. I request farmers to refrain from such drastic actions. PT 7 is currently under the observation of the doctors. The elephant is receiving good care," he said.
He also added that range officers and department officials have been instructed to attend calls for help. Earlier, criticism was levelled against forest officials for not attending calls, even those from elected representatives. Following this, a meeting was held to address the matter in the presence of the forest minister.
