Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Director General of Police (DGP) Anil Kant here on Tuesday said that strict action will be taken against those police officers who have links with antisocial people regardless of their ranks.
Speaking at a crime analysis meeting held at the police headquarters, Kant said that the district police chiefs and deputy inspector generals (DIG) should take care to submit reports against such officers.
Surprise raids using special kits will be carried out to find drivers under the influence of drugs. The licences of those drivers found guilty will be recommended for cancellation, he added.
The district police chiefs should take initiative to install CCTV cameras at public places and one of the cameras should be placed in such a way so as to receive visuals from the roads. The meeting also decided to give special attention to the matter in the wake of the approaching festival period. The intelligence chief also directed officers to remain vigilant for communal and political conflicts in the state.
Immediate action will be taken in those cases registered as per the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes (BUDS) Act and the competent authority appointed by the government will be informed in this regard.
