Accused Vishnu
Kalpetta: A seven-year-old girl was branded with a hot spatula on her leg by her stepfather at Kalpetta in Wayanad. Police arrested the accused Chuzhaly native Vishnu, 31, based on the complaint lodged by the neighbours via Childline.
Vishnu placed the spatula on the right leg of a girl child. She is one among the twin children of Vishnu's wife in her first marriage. The brutal act came to light after the neighbours rang up the Childline, from where the information was passed to Kalpetta police station.
A police team under SI Biju Antony took Vishnu under custody and recorded his arrest later. The children informed the police that Vishnu used to inflict injuries on them often.
After providing treatment, the girl was produced before the child welfare committee. As per the committee’s order, the child and her twin sister have been shifted to a childcare home.
