Idukki: A fast track court here on Wednesday sentenced a man to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Marayoor. The convict is the stepfather of the victim.
The court also asked the man to give Rs 1 lakh as compensation to the victim. Earlier, the police registered a case based on the statements given by the girl and her younger sister.
However, their mother turned hostile during the trial and favoured the accused. However, the court found the accused guilty based on strong evidence against him.
