Thiruvananthapuram: As the sales of liquor in the state is about to resume, the state government is preparing a virtual queue system. Five companies have been shortlisted by the government for the virtual queue app.

The government has decided to hand over the responsibility of developing the app to start-up companies. 16 companies were selected from a total of 30 companies from whom applications were received. Out of this five companies made it to the final list. This list has been handed over to the IT department. IT department will take the final decision on the matter.

The state is reeling under financial crisis as it is not generating any revenue. The opening of liquor sales and the additional cess levied on alcohol will help the state in a big way. Hence, the sale of liquor will resume from May 18.
