Thiruvananthapuram: The Chief Secretary has approved linking the 'Service and Payroll Administrative Repository for Kerala' (Spark) to the Biometric punching attendance system in government offices. The move from the state government aims to make attendance of employees more transparent and working hours more steady.
Earlier, it was learnt that many employees fail to attend office on time, leading to government services getting delayed and files backlogged. The state government has now came forward with a more stable system to tackle this persistent issue.
Meanwhile, the installation of the Access Control System in Secretariat is in its final stage. Even though the punching system is widely used in government offices, it is yet to be linked to Spark software. As a result, the salary and benefits are not affected even if the employees fail to use punching system.
As per the latest order, the employees will be marked leave if they fail to punch attendance within the time allotted during morning and evening.
