State Govt keeps expenses of ministers' foreign trips a secret
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government is keeping the financial details of Chief Minister’s foreign travels a secret. The government is yet to give a reply to the questions asked via RTI and in the Assembly in this regard. The only reply they have given until now is that it is being collected.
Last February, IC Balakrishnan asked the government three questions in the Assembly. One of the questions was regarding the countries that the CM and other ministers travelled after being sworn-in. Balakrishnan also asked about the details of the official and unofficial trips made by the ministers.
He questioned the purpose of the visit and the money that spent for each minister during their foreign trips. The only reply from the government was the details are being collected.
Nearly one and half years after this, NA Nellikkunnu MLA repeated the same question in the Assemby on June 13, 2019. He asked six questions in connection with the foreign trips of the ministers. The government has replied with the same answer this time as well.
When PK Basheer asked a similar question in the last assembly session, the response was the same. The government has not responded to any of the enquiries relating to the Chief Minister’s foreign trips.
