Alappuzha: Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad criticised the state government and said it is following the footstep of the Central government in adapting Neoliberal economic policies that could harshly affect the people and the economy. The criticism from Parishad came through a manuscript that discusses the impact of the K-Rail project on the existing transport system in the state.
The central government is gradually trying to privatise the Indian Railway for the interest of large corporates. Meanwhile, the state government is going ahead with the implementation of K-Rail for similar gains. Altogether, these projects bring more financial and economic burdens to the commoners.
The state government is going ahead with the project despite not having a mandate from the people. There are trying to implement the project to the liking of some individuals. Thereby, they are forcing the people to accept the project.
Despite increasing the road and rail network in the state, the government is pushing ahead with the K-Rail project. The corporate companies implement development and come forward to run K-Rail due to the state government bearing all costs and difficulties of land acquisition. It is also worth noting that toll and cess will have to be imposed according to their interests.
