State experiences one month's rain within 3 days: Experts
Thiruvananthapuram: Experts said that the rains that should be received in a month has already poured down in Kerala within three days. Disaster Management Authority's hazard analyst Fahad Marzook said that the disaster resulted from the heavy rain poured down in a very short time. The quickly pouring down rain has turned water into aqua bombs resulting in tragedies.
Within last 24 hours, there was 40 cm rain in Alathur, 33 cm in Ottapalam, 30 cm in Mannarkkad, 29 cm in Vythiri and 26 cm in Ambalavayal. No accurate records of rain are not available as more rainfall could have occurred in the deep forests.
Last year, intense rain had occurred in Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur and Ernakulam districts. But this year, rain lashed in Wayanad, Palakkad and Nilambur. Compared to the records of previous year, heavy rain is experienced in these areas this time. Wayanad received rain twice more than previous year which submerged many places in the district.
