Kayamkulam: The timely intervention of employees and passengers saved the life of a woman who fell unconscious while travelling in a KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) bus.
The incident took place inside a Varkala-Sivagiri-Kottayam fast passenger on Tuesday evening. Sudhambika, a native of Sakthikulangara fell unconscious after the bus was diverted through a series of pocket roads near Puthiyakavu at Karunagappally, owing to Ochira temple festival.
Driver K. S. Jayan maneuvered the bus through the narrow road as fast as he could while conductor P. S. Santhosh Kumar and other passengers provided first aid to Sudhambika. One of the passengers also called for an ambulance before they reached Kuttitheruvu. From there, the ambulance picked up Sudhambika and rushed her to the Kayamkulam Taluk Hospital.
The bus along with its passengers followed the ambulance all the way to the hospital. After learning that the patient’s life was not in danger, they returned with a sense of relief and satisfaction. Sudhambika underwent treatment and left the hospital an hour later.
