Malappuram: The Education Department has not yet appointed teachers to attend the SSLC evaluation camp that starts on Thursday. There is a need for around 200 to 400 teachers in the camps. But only less than 100 teachers have been assigned to many camps. Last year too the department had the same situation.

The applications from teachers were invited this year through the Integrated Examination Management System (iExaMS) software. As the number of entries was very less, the department passed an order stating that all high school teachers must apply for the camp. The department also stated that those not taking part in the evaluation must produce reason for their absence. The teachers started submitting their applications following this. The appointment is done based on the seniority of teachers.

It was discussed in the meeting of camp supervisors that there are not enough applicants for subjects including physics, chemistry and biology. Many of the applicants haven’t received the appointment order. Several senior teachers who were appointed couldn’t attend due to physical constraints. The camp officers will be forced to arrange teachers regionally. Last year, it took several days for the officers to conduct the camp properly by arranging the teachers. This year too the same situation may follow.
