Edappal: A Malayali woman has won the most prestigious award given for young researchers in America. Sruthi Narayanan, a 33-year-old woman hailing from Edappal has won the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) Research, that recognizes excellence and leadership in research and education sectors.
The award includes a purse of 2000 US dollars, a felicitation letter and a plaque. She won the award for developing crops that endure adverse climatic conditions, severe droughts, and increased atmospheric temperature and provide great yield. She works as an assistant professor at Clemson University in America.
Sruthi is the daughter of retired teachers and Kumaranellur natives P K Narayanankutty and A K Sreedevi.
