Sriram Venkitaraman’s suspension extended to 3 months
Thiruvananthapuram: The suspension of IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman, who was suspended in connection with the accident in which journalist K M Basheer was killed, has been extended to three more months. His suspension was about to end on January 31.
The chief minister issued the order in this regard after rejecting the recommendation of the chief secretary to reinstate Sriram. A departmental investigation into the case is progressing under the leadership of IAS officers Sanjay Garg and B Ashok.
Journalist K M Basheer was killed after he was hit by a car which was driven by IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman in a drunken state on August 3, 2019. He was suspended after Museum police arrested him in connection with the incident.
