Sriram Venkitaraman case: Chargesheet to be filed within 2 weeks

Thiruvananhtapuram: In the death of Journalist KM Basheer who was killed after being hit by a car driven by IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman, the Special Investigation Team will file chargesheet within two weeks. It is learned that the investigation is almost completed.

At present, the probe team is waiting for the forensic reports, MVD report and Car company’s report after examining the vehicle which met with the accident. These reports will be received by this week. The probe team will file the chargesheet after receiving these reports.

Meanwhile, the probe team interrogated all doctors in the private hospital where the IAS officer was admitted. The probe team also decided to record the statements of all witnesses. A plea will be filed before the court for this purpose.

Following the accident on August 3, Sriram Venkitaraman who suffered injury in the accident was taken to General Hospital and the doctors here referred him to Govt. Medical College for further treatment. But he took admission in a private hospital instead of Govt. Medical college.

The probe team interrogated the chief doctor and assistant who were on duty at the Causality care. Doctors have asserted that Sriram had only suffered minor injuries when he was admitted to the General Hospital. They noted that only first aid was administrated to him. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital.
