Sriram remains in hospital to avoid imprisonment; allegation arises
Thiruvananthapuram: Sriram Venkitaraman continues to remain in treatment at the private hospital here after he drove a car under influence of alcohol and killed a journalist.
Sriram stays in the hospital claiming he needs medical treatment for the injuries. However, it is alleged that he is staying in the hospital to avoid being imprisoned in connection with the accident case.
Sriram claimed he has minor injuries on his arms and legs and chest pain. The doctors clarified that these injuries are not fatal and requires only observation of his health condition.
Meanwhile, it will be clarified whether Sriram will be allowed to stay at the hospital or shifted to sub jail, only after the doctors complete check-up on Sunday.
According to service rules, Sriram will have to face departmental action soon, including suspension, if remanded. In the accident case, Sriram has been remanded for 14 days.
