Sr. Lucy gets notice from mother superior for protests against bishop Franco Mulakkal
Wayanad: Sr. Lucy Kalapura, who joined the protest demanding arrest of Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal, is facing action from the church authority. She was served a notice by the mother superior seeking explanations for taking part in media interviews and TV channel discussions.
A member of Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC) and a teacher at Sacred Heart High school at Dwaraka in Wayanad district, the nun had actively participated in the protests against bishop Franco Mulakkal. She had also written several articles for media in connection with the issue.
Citing Sr. Lucy’s actions, the FCC has served the notice as an initial warning. The Notice accuses Sr. Lucy of causing disgrace to the FCC and the church. The notice also states that it was the first step in expelling her from the Congregation.
Sr. Lucy has been asked to appear before the mother superior at the FCC generalate in Aluva on Wednesday. The mother superior states that despite repeated attempts, Sr. Lucy refused to appear before her to discuss the issue.
Meanwhile, Sr. Lucy said she had no intention of appearing before the mother superior as she felt that she had not done anything wrong. She said that she had sought permission regarding several matters but in vain and that had forced her to take part in the protests.
Sr Lucy said that the notice had allegations about a car she had brought for which she had sought permission. As there was no reply from FCC, I had to take decisions, said the nun.
