Speech at police station: CPM reprimands P Jayarajan
Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM leadership has condemned party Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan for addressing cadre on the premises of Payyannur police station.
CPM state secretary Kodiyeri condemned the action at the party state committee meeting held here.
The CPM had taken out a march to Payyannur police station to protest slapping of the Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (KAPPA) on DYFI activist Nandakumar in connection with the murder of BMS worker Ramachandran.
During the march, Jayarajan entered the premises and addressed the cadre using a mike from the veranda.
When the issue was discussed at the state committee meeting, Kodiyeri pointed out that the move was inappropriate when LDF is in power.
He added that such incidents could be replicated at other places.
However, Jayarajan replied that he was protesting against the slapping of KAPPA.
Even when the CPM was sitting at the opposition, the party had protested against such action, he said and expressed regret if the move went wrong.
In his response, Kodiyeri said such issues should be taken up with the party or government first.
Attempt should be made to resolve it through these channels, he said.
