Special squads of Food Safety Dept to inspect curry powders in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: As a part of the ‘Nallabakshanam Naadinte Avakasham’ (Right to Healthy Food) campaign, an inspection will be conducted to check whether curry powders are adulterated, informed Health Minister Veena George. The special squads of the Food Safety Department will carry out the inspection in the state.

If inedible or adulterated samples are found in a packet, the whole batch will have to be retrieved from the markets and a notice will be sent to the sellers and the company. The minister further informed that the companies that are found using adulterants will have to face legal action.

So far, 9,005 inspections have been carried out. Action was taken against 382 shops and 1,230 companies were served notice, the minister informed.
