Special Action Plan to control COVID-19 transmission in coastal areas
Thiruvananthapuram: A special health action plan will be prepared to contain COVID-19 transmission in coastal areas. As part of the plan, district-level coastal health boards will be formed.
The district authority has taken action in view of the rapid spread of the disease in coastal areas.
Local self-governments are directed to form coastal health boards for implementing COVID prevention programmes. The health department has issued an order relating to this.
District-level health board chaired by the district collector will plan and execute preventive measures. Public representatives in the district and higher officials in the local self-government department will be the members of the board. They will supervise COVID-19 prevention activities.
The special action plan aims to carry out more COVID tests at coastal areas. The district authority has also directed to plan and execute special action plans depending on the situation in each coastal region.
Apart from this, more treatment facilities including reverse quarantine will be arranged under the health board.
