Speaker grants permission to take action on corruption case for first time


Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan granted permission to charge case as per Section 17-A of Prevention of Corruption Act against Azhikode MLA K M Shaji.

Thiruvananthapuram: It is for the first time the Speaker of Kerala Assembly is granting permission to charge case against an MLA in connection with anti-corruption law.

Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan granted permission to charge case as per Section 17-A of Prevention of Corruption Act against Azhikode MLA K M Shaji on the basis of a complaint of bribery for allotting Plus Two batch.

This was informed in a letter forwarded to the additional chief secretary of the vigilance department on March 16.
