Speaker dismisses Governor, says power centre should be elected govt
Thiruvanathapuram: Kerala Assembly Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan dismissed the arguments made by the Governor against the state government. He said that the government elected by the people is the real power center in the state and that there should not be two real power centers in the state.
The President does not come above the Prime Minister, said the speaker. “Everybody has to keep in mind the borders of power kept in place by the constitution. The existence of two power centers will only create a constitutional challenge” he opined.
Meanwhile, minister AK Balan told the media that the state’s decision to approach the Supreme Court did not violate any law. He said that the government has not done anything that questions the authority of the Governor.
