Speaker did not skip Assembly session to inaugurate Sandeep’s firm, proves video
Thiruvananthapuram: Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan attended the inauguration of the gold smuggling case accused Sandeep Nair's firm at Nedumangad after the special assembly session on December 31.
The Speaker’s office released a video on Sunday dismissing the allegations which claimed that the Speaker skipped the Assembly session to attend the controversial inauguration.
The special Assembly session was summoned to pass the resolution against the citizenship amendment act. In this session, the Assembly considered a motion seeking an extension of SC/ST reservation and another resolution against the removal of reservation for Anglo-Indians in legislative bodies.
The video featured that the speaker was on the dais throughout the assembly session which commenced at 9 am and adjourned at 12.38 pm.
The visuals prove that the allegations claiming that the Speaker skipped the Assembly session to attend the inauguration are baseless. The Speaker reached the inauguration venue in Nedumangad at 1 pm. He left the function within 10 minutes.
However, the Speaker was the inaugurator of an event which was skipped by sitting MLA C. Divakaran. P. Sreeramakrishnan accepted that he failed to seek an intelligence report before attending the function.
