Thiruvananthapuram: A top police officer has been transferred in relation to the security breach of President Ramnath Kovind during his Kerala visit. State Special Branch SP N Vijayakumar was shifted to the central unit 1 of the district Crime Branch.
When the president visited Kerala in December, Mayor’s official vehicle intruded between the motorcade of the president. Following this, Vijayakumar was transferred to the training college based on the report of the state police chief. However, the action taken against a police officer for a mistake committed by the Mayor’s vehicle evoked severe criticism. Hence, he was not shifted from the state special branch.
His current transfer to the district Crime Branch was undertaken based on the report of Union Home Ministry.
