Some people are declaring secret statements of gold smuggling case accused: Pinarayi Vijayan
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the government will not safeguard any wrongdoers. The government never had any prejudice regarding the gold smuggling case investigation. Earlier itself we had informed the Centre that we were ready to provide all assistance to the central agencies investigating the case, the CM said while addressing a press conference.
When details about the gold smuggling case came out, the government had sent a letter to the Prime Minister on July 8, 2020, seeking a coordinated and effective investigation. The state government did not have any prejudice and was ready to provide all assistance to the agencies. However, there was no need for a discussion to find out what the probe was targeting.
Today, the probe is being conducted in such a way that the aim is to disfigure the state government’s welfare schemes even at the expense of the accused escaping. During press conferences, some political leaders are even declaring what the accused allegedly said in the secret statement given to the magistrate.
Those who couldn’t even allege a single corruption case in four-and-a-half years are now coming out with fake corruption allegations during the election. The investigation agencies have become pathfinders to such allegations, the CM accused.
