Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has given a clean chit to former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and BJP leader AP Abdullakutty concerning allegations of sexual exploitation of the prime accused in the 2013 solar scam case. A report filed by CBI in Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday indicates lack of evidence to prove sexual assault of the complainant.
According to the complainant, Oommen Chandy sexually assaulted her at Cliff House and Abdullakutty at Mascot hotel. However, the charge sheet filed by CBI pointed out that there is no evidence to substantiate these allegations. Earlier, similar allegations were also raised against senior Congress leaders Hibi Eden MP, Anilkumar MP, KC Venugopal, and Adoor Prakash.
Following these complaints, separate FIRs were filed against each of the accused. However, CBI quashed the claims citing lack of evidence. The case was initially probed by the Crime Branch unit of Kerala Police. However, the case was handed over to CBI after the complainant approached Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
