Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram Principal Sub-Court has ordered former Chief Minister and CPM veteran VS Achuthanandan to pay a compensation of Rs 10,10,000 for his statements against ex-Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy over a defamation case.

The court was pronouncing the verdict on the petition filed against Achuthanandan’s remarks on Oommen Chandy related to the Solar scam.

The incident pertaining to the case happened in August 2013. During an interview given to a private TV channel, Achuthanandan alleged that Oommen Chandy formed a company to do corruption. Oommen Chandy filed a defamation case against this statement.
