Social distancing has to be followed in all institutions, directs DGP Lokanath Behera
Thiruvananthapuram: State police chief Lokanath Behera has directed strict social distancing at all institutions in the state. He said that hypermarkets, including margin-free shops, should allow only 6 people within 100 square feet distance.
Only limited staff members should be employed in the stores at a particular time. Spots should be marked outside the store so that people can maintain social distancing while waiting in queue. The police chief has also instructed to fix a particular time for customers in each store.
Shop owners must ensure that customers adhere to social distancing while waiting in front of the shop. Social distancing protocols should not be violated in any of the financial institutions including banks. Large gatherings in front of such institutions should be avoided.
It was instructed earlier that shops should display posters carrying necessary instructions to the customers. But this was not followed in many shops. In this context, special team from the police headquarters have been deployed to examine this, Lokanath Behera informed. Posters will have to be displayed inside and outside the shop in both English and Malayalam.
