Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state vice president Sobha Surendran made a grand re-entry into the party after a long interval. Sobha Surendran conducted a 48-hour hunger strike in solidarity with the job candidates who have been protesting in front of the secretariat.

Sobha also met the Governor along with the representatives of job candidates and this was an unexpected move from her. As Sobha declared the protest on her own, BJP leaders were keeping a distance from it and the leaders did not visit her at the protest venue.

Close allies of Sobha said they had informed party state president K Surendran about her protest in the presence of the party’s state in-charge. However, they did not expect that the leaders would neglect her protest.

Sobha and her allies are of the opinion that though the BJP leadership gave tough time for the state government in connection with gold smuggling case, they loosened their grip after the local body election.
