Kochi: A new scheme ‘Snehayanam’ has been introduced to support poor mothers of differently abled who are covered under National Trust Rules.

Those who are affected by autism, cerebral palsy and other mental challenges will be considered. According to the new scheme of the Department of Social Justice, electric autorickshaws will be given to their mothers for free. In the first phase, the autos will be distributed for two selected people from each state. Those who come under BPL category and under 55 years can apply.

Mothers need to have an autorickshaw license and have to submit the ration card, identity card, copy of license, declaration of the Village Officer and the certificate of Medical Board to the District Officer of the Social Justice Department in order to apply for the scheme.
