The Kollam Additional Sessions court on October 13 had awarded maximum punishment to Uthra's husband Suraj and he was sentenced to 17 years imprisonment and a double life term under sections 302, 307, 328 and 201 of IPC.

Kollam: In the contraversial snakebite murder case, the family members of Uthra, the woman who was killed by her husband have approached the High court with an appeal expressing dissatisfaction over the verdict.

The Kollam Additional Sessions court on October 13 had awarded maximum punishment to Uthra's husband Suraj and he was sentenced to 17 years imprisonment and a double life term under sections 302, 307, 328 and 201 of IPC.

However, Uthra’s mother said that she was unhappy over the court verdict and will approach the High Court seeking death penalty for Suraj. Her family also responded that they expect the government’s help to approach the high court.
