New Delhi: Union Minister V Muraleedharan stated that the investigation into the gold smuggling case has reached a crucial turning point as ED took Sivasankar into custody after HC rejected his anticipatory bail plea.

The investigation agencies took the probe into the case to a crucial turning point after defeating all challenges from the government, CPM and Chief Minister and efforts to destroy evidence in the case, the minister said.

ED taking Sivasankar into custody should be viewed as the beginning of more VIPs coming under the scanner of the probe team, he added.

V Muraleedharan said that the Chief Minister should resign for the sake of his government and party without waiting to face more disgrace.

“The BJP does not think that the case will conclude with Sivasankar,” said Muraleedharan.
