Sivasankar pretending to be ill; anticipatory bail plea invalid, says Customs
Kochi: The Customs officials stated that former principal secretary M Sivasankar sought treatment at the hospital as per a pre-planned script.
The customs made this statement in a counter-affidavit filed in the High Court opposing the anticipatory bail plea of Sivasankar.
It was found in the medical check-up that the illness of Sivasankar was a fraud. He only has back pain that can be cured with painkillers. As he expected arrest, Sivasankar sought medical help according to a pre-planned script. He pretended to be sick in order to avoid interrogation. Also the IAS officer was adamant about going to the private hospital where his wife works, the Customs stated in the counter-affidavit.
The Customs took a strong stand against the anticipatory bail plea filed by Sivasankar. It is pointed out in the counter-affidavit that the High Court cannot legally consider the anticipatory bail plea filed in connection with a case charged by the Customs.
The High Court will consider Sivasankar's bail plea on Friday. The Customs filed their counter-affidavit in the court prior to this.
