Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty, who has been heavily ridiculed on social media for his recent remarks over the opposition’s protest in the Assembly, said that he is happy about the memes.
“All have protested in the Assembly, Parliament and the houses of all other Indian states. I was suspended from the house for my protest then. Further actions were taken and the issue ended there,” said the minister.
However, what happened here for the past two weeks are parallel sessions, slogans against the speaker and strikes disrupting the house. Such incidents have not taken place in the house before. That’s what I said. Shouldn’t the ones mocking me understand this?”, asked Sivankutty.
Furthermore, the minister asked whether he did not have the right to respond against anti-democratic protests as he participated in a protest earlier.
“The opposition leader is trying to politicise all issues. He is attempting to create ruckus in the Assembly and cause riots in the state. Kerala has a culture of talking politics. But, it is the opposition that brought in the culture of levelling baseless insults against family members sitting at home. I cannot agree with it,” he added.
Earlier users on social media had ridiculed Sivankutty for his latest remarks by sharing the footage of his actions in the Assembly during the budget presentation by former Finance Minister KM Mani in 2015.
