Kozhikode: The validity of the contract of the agency assigned to study the social impact of K-Rail's SilverLine project in the Kozhikode district expired before it could finish the survey. Due to the uncertainty over the implementation of the SilverLine project, there is no clarity as to when the social impact study will be restarted. VK Consulting Agency in Thikkodi was appointed to conduct the social impact study on January 15.

However, the contract ended on the 15th of this month. To continue the study, the notification must be released again. Social impact study was conducted in Karuvanthuruthy, Cheruvannur, Beypore, and Panniyankara villages where the survey was completed. It is learned that the project will affect nearly 300 houses in these regions.

The decision was taken by the government to stop laying down survey stones and instead use the GPS to complete the survey.
