Kannur: CPM General Secretary Sitharam Yechury said that a project similar to K-Rail is necessary to uplift the standard of living in Kerala. He added that projects from the LDF government helped the state reach the standards of Europe.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that the CPM protest against the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor project was aimed at the policy of acquiring land without paying compensation. However, the situation in Kerala is different, he said during a press conference held in Kannur.
"Hindutva forces are trying to suppress the popular struggles in the country. We are trying to form a left democratic front to fight this evil. It needs the support of all secular parties," he said.
"BJP is trying to bring the Hindutva agenda through issues like the Hijab row. Inflation has damaged the spirit of people and made it hard," he added.
