Thiruvananthapuram: Reiterating his stand that SilverLine project is pro-people, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan assured that “even a single inch of land will not be forcefully acquired from anyone”. Kodiyeri’s reiteration comes in the article in Deshabhimani, the mouthpiece of Communist Party. This comes at a time when protests against the project have been intensifying across the state.
According to Kodiyeri, the LDF government is always open to hear opinions of public and unions. He assured that appropriate compensation will be provided to those who let off their lands for the project.
“At present survey stones are laid. This is done to have Social Impact Assessment. Following that an expert committee will be constituted to hear the opinions of individuals losing their land. Appropriate compensation will be decided and distributed. Even a single inch of land will not be forcefully acquired from anyone,” he said.
In his article, Kodiyeri has elaborated why the project is important and has slammed both UDF and BJP for opposing the project.
