SilverLine: DCC President, 20 others booked for removing survey stones in Kannur

Kannur: Police have booked 20 people, including Kannur DCC President Advocate Martin George, for staging a protest against the SilverLine project here on Thursday. The case was registered for the destruction of public property. Earlier, it was hinted that MP K Sudhakaran who spearheaded the protest will be named as an accused in the case. However, his name was excluded from the list of accused.

The case was registered over the protests staged on April 21 and 22 at Chala. The case was filed against Congress workers including leaders like Adv Martin George, Sudheep James, and Rijin Maakutty.

The survey stones were removed in the presence of KPCC president K Sudhakaran at Chala. The stones were initially laid amidst strong protests. Later, a group of Congress workers led by K Sudhakaran marched to the spot and removed the stones despite skirmishes between police and the activists.
