Nedumkandam: An injured barn owl, commonly called silver owl, was found from Ramakkalmedu and kept under the protection of the forest department from Saturday.

The owl was being attacked by a group of crows near the road and it was the jeep drivers who saved the owl and passed the information to the Kallar section office under the forest department. The owl sustained injuries on its leg.

A team including Kallar section forest officer KG Murali and beat forest officer TS Suneesh shifted the barn owl to the office of forest department. Fruits were fed and the officers said that the bird will be transferred to the rescue home if it shows any physical discomforts.
