Siddique Kappan shifted to AIIMS hospital from Mathura jail
New Delhi: Mathura jail authorities informed that Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan, who is in Uttar Pradesh police custody under UAPA charges, was shifted to the AIIMS hospital in New Delhi after the SC direction. He was shifted to Delhi hospital on Friday.
A team including the deputy jailor and medical officer shifted Siddique Kappan to Delhi. On Wednesday, Chief Justice N V Ramana-led bench had directed the UP government to shift Kappan to Delhi after his medical reports revealed he was suffering from health ailments including diabetes, heart ailment, blood pressure, etc.
Mathua jail medical superintendent had earlier informed the apex court that Kappan had suffered jaw bone injury after a fall in jail. A detailed examination on the injury to his jaw will be examined by the AIIMS officials, it is learnt.
