SIC asks police to publicise information relating to ‘T’ branch under RTI
Thiruvananthapuram: The State Information Commission (SIC) has asked Kerala Police to provide information and documents related to the secret wing ‘T’ branch to RTI applicants.
The ‘T’ branch files and documents are available at the Police headquarters. However, the police recently rejected an RTI query which sought certain information from the ‘T’ branch, stating that the information is classified. The questions posed through the RTI included the promotions given to officials.
The Commission has also sought the intervention of DGP T P Senkumar in the matter.
Last month, Senkumar issued a circular directing officers at the police headquarters asking all departments, including the secret wing ‘T’ branch, to provide information to the public under RTI Act based on the prevailing order.
