Panoor: Vishnupriya was all alone at home when she was butchered, allegedly by Manantheri native Shyamjith.

Her parents were attending the post-death rituals of her grandmother. The body was found by a relative who returned to the house by around 12 in the noon.

Police said Shyamjith had planned the murder and he brought the murder weapon.

Vishnupriya’s head was almost severed. Deep cuts on arms were also present. Though the accused had escaped from the scene, he was soon nabbed. Locals said they saw a youth wearing a red cap roaming around the location.

Police identified Shyamjith from the communications with Vishnupriya on mobile phone and social media and nabbed him based on location data from mobile phone towers.
